Update the Omnimed QHR integration (V2→V3) via GPO (for network administrators)

This procedure outlines the steps required to update the Omnimed QHR integration from version 2 to version 3 using Group Policy (GPO).

Steps to Follow

  1. Download the new version
    Download the following file: OmnimedQHRAuthentificatorV3.msi

  2. Identify the existing GPO

Locate the Group Policy Object (GPO) currently used to deploy the QHR application (version 2): OmnimedQHRAuthenticator.msi

  3. Access software installation settings

In the Group Policy Management Editor, navigate to:

User Configuration > Policies > Software Settings > Software Installation

  4. Add the new MSI package (version 3)

Right-click on Software Installation, then select New > Package

    • Browse to the centralized network location where the version 3 MSI file is stored (OmnimedQHRAuthenticatorV3.msi)

    • Select the file and choose the Advanced deployment method

  5. Configure the upgrade

Go to the Upgrades tab In the package properties (right-click the package > Properties), then to the Upgrade tab.

  • Click Add

  • Select the existing version 2 package

(OmnimedQHRAuthenticator_x64.msi) that the new package will replace

  • Check the option Upgrade required for existing packages checkbox.

6. Deployment:

  • Ensure that the deployment type for the new packages (V3) is set to Assigned

  • That the "Install this application at logon" checkbox is selected.

  • That All is selected under Installation User Interface Option.

7. Force the Update

Updates will be applied at the next restart of the client workstations, or by running the gpupdate /force command followed by signing out on the affected workstations.

Note:

An automatic restart will be triggered at the next logon for each user on all workstations.

Always ensure that the MSI files (both V2 and V3) are accessible via a UNC path shared by all target computers, and that permissions are properly configured.
